Lizzy Banks has had quite a 2021, she started the year riding for Bigla Katusha before they collapsed. Riding in on a white horse was Paule Ka pledging a multi year deal and keeping the riders and team in business.
And what a team, never finishing outside of the top ten, fourth on the Women’s World Tour UCI Rankings with some stand out performances along the way, mainly from Lizzy Banks finishing second in the GP de Plouay, a stage win on Stage 4 of the Giro Rosa and looking good for the World Championships were it not for a very early bike change and dodgy luck.
It came as a huge shock when Puale Ka announced they would be pulling out of the Women’s World Tour with immediate effect, leaving many riders and staff looking elsewhere at a torrid time of the season where contracts for may riders had already been agreed.
Many rumours have been passed about as to why Paule Ka has withdrawn from cycling with lots of legal back and forth. Paule Ka is a company which is in administration and it was no failing of the teams manager Thomas Campana.
However, Pusher of Pedals understands that Lizzy Banks will be in the Women’s World Tour for 2021 signing a one year contract with a team to be unveiled at 5pm on Wednesday the 11th of November.
Lizzy told Pusher of Pedals that she “is very excited to be working with members of this team and looking at forming dynamic partnerships with riders. I’m excited to learn and develop in this team.” she went on to say “I hope I’m not just knocking on the door of podiums but push on to go for race wins, with the end goal of making the list of riders for the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo.”
